Last Monday Elle and Bella and I went for a drive along the mostly rural roads to the south of us, hoping to find some photogenic sights along the way. We were thinking cows, meadows, ponds and the like, but it soon became apparent that there were far better views to be had, hence the title of this blog.
First we came across this old Ford fire truck at the entrance to a farm. What a lovely patina!
A bit farther along we found this old De Soto , complete with vintage bicycle and tricycle. Farmers around here seem to have a fondness for the old.
An old wooden fence is always photogenic.
And then something odd… a bright blue couch in the middle of nowhere!
An old church that has been converted into a dwelling. The homeowner was very friendly and she and Elle had a long chat.
Another oddity — a pink dog’s toy by the roadside.
What I think is an old Massey Ferguson that has clearly seen much better days.
On another farm an even older tractor. This farmer had a whole bunch of old tractors and farm implements neatly displayed between his house and the road. Very artistic!
Another kind of old, the little church of St James in Luddenham and its graveyard…
… including this grave, which was the oldest one I could find, dating back to 1881. Sadly it seems no-one is looking after the late John Harris’s grave any more.
